Due date & payment frequency

Due day, payment type (advance/current/arrears), and frequency — what they control and where to set them.

A lease carries three fields that together determine when and how rent is paid — set in the “Rental terms” step of the lease wizard, and editable on the lease's detail page too.

  • Payment type (rentalMode) — in advance (“in June you pay for July”), for the current period (“in June for June”), or in arrears (“in June for May”).
  • Payment frequency (paymentFrequency) — calendar periods (monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, yearly) or a custom interval (one-time, 1–2 weeks, 1/3/6/12 months).
  • Due day (dueDay) — the specific day of the month a payment should arrive by.

Heads up
Charge generation currently always computes monthly, with the due date set one month ahead — frequency is only a rough guide. If a lease has a different frequency (e.g. quarterly), review the generated charges afterwards and adjust manually if needed.
Tip
A table of derived values across all leases, “Due dates from leases”, is in Generating rent schedules.
