Meter readings

Logging meters and their readings per unit — the input for both the settlement and the consumption forecast.

The Meter readings tab tracks individual meters on a property or a specific unit, and their readings over time. “Add meter” creates a new meter; “Add reading” on a row (or bulk “Add readings”) logs a new value.

Meter types

  • Cold-water meter and hot-water meter
  • Gas meter
  • Electricity meter (single tariff) / high tariff (T1) / low tariff (T2)
  • Heat meter
  • Heat cost allocator (ITN)
  • A custom type via “Other…”

The table shows each meter's current value (from its latest reading) and a computed daily consumption from recent readings — a quick way to spot unusual usage.

How consumption for a period is calculated

Consumption for a given period (a year, a lease term…) is derived from consecutive readings via linear interpolation — Najato pro-rates the value between two readings, so you don't need a reading on the exact first and last day. Values are never extrapolated beyond the recorded readings.

Tip
Without regular readings, consumption can't be reliably allocated by meter — both the settlement and the consumption forecast then fall back to floor area.
